Disclaimer: I DO NOT OWN YYH OR IY. But I wouldn’t mind doing so ^_~

Hello People!!! This is my first story and I would appreciate it if you would be so kind as to read it and review it. ^_^ This is an idea I got some time ago and I finally decided to write it out.
It is a YYH-IY x-over, and I might or might not do any pairings, so if any of you have any suggestions on whether or not I should have any then review and give me your opinion. But I will not do any Kag/Inu pairings. Also, I might need help coming up with a good title, as it happens I am not good at that. -_-

Chapter one

Unwanted Memories

Kagome’s POV

Why is it that every time I find someone special, they get taken away from me? Sure he wasn’t the boyfriend type, but he was something else, something much more special. No, not a lover, definitely not a lover, but a brother. He was like a brother to me. And he was taken. My heart aches, but what can I do?? I’ve lost hope now, I’ve lost faith, I’m not safe, nor are my companions. No one is safe. But am I the only one who sees it like this, or do they still have hope??

Normal POV

Kagome fell on her knees near the grave, with uncontrollable tears streaming down her face. No one understood her real pain, no one, she felt alone, she felt so alone with no hope and no one there to guide her. The truth was that she felt that his death was her fault, he died protecting her. He did everything he could to protect her, but what did she do? Nothing, she was frozen with fear, she didn’t know what to do. And she was tired of feeling weak; she was tired of people having to protect her. She was so tired, but try as she might, she could never get over the fact that she would never be as good a Kikyo. She had low self-esteem.

“Kagome, it wasn’t your fault, really, please Stop crying, he wouldn’t want you to cry” Said the sorrowful voice of Sango as she kneeled down in front of her.

Stupid as it may seem to some, the one who was suffering the most was Sango. She loved him with all her might. She would have given anything to see him alive once again. But as faith would have it, She was not to see him again, oh no, she wouldn’t see him; She would never again see the man that had angered her countless times. She would mourn his death like no one else would, because she loved him. Oh yes, She loved him, and she missed him.

“Sango, how can I stop crying? How, I was my fault, It was my fault that he died, if I had been more careful and stayed out of the way like Inu-yasha said, then he wouldn’t have died.” She said while looking up at her, you could see her tear stained face.

“He did what he could, and he would not want to see you crying for him, he wouldn’t want any of us crying. And Kagome, we don’t blame you for his death.”

Yes, she was right he wouldn’t want anyone crying for him.

Miroku.

That was the man that was cursed; he was the one that saved Kagome. He was the one that they were mourning.

Sango stood up from where she had kneeled in front of Kagome. The wind was moving her hair gently. It was a beautiful day, a beautiful day filled with sorrow at losing their friend. The day was clear, and the sky was as blue as it could get. The wind was mild and the sound of birds was heard in the distance. The whole village was there. They had grown fond of Miroku, and now, the group had no one to lighten up the mood in the tensest of times.

Kagome went to the nearest tree and leaned her back against it. Her tears had subsided and she closed her eyes and started thinking.

“Ahhh,” screamed Kagome, a snake demon had just attacked her, “get away from me.”

She would have shot it with an arrow but the snake demon was in close range, and her arrows only worked for long range attacks.

Miroku, who was fighting another snake demon, heard Kagome’s scream. He finished of the snake demon and rushed towards Kagome. He rushed in front of Kagome and …

“Kagome, are you ok? You seem distracted,” Shippo asked with round eyes adorning his face.

“Yes I’m fine Shippo,” she said, “I’m just thinking.”

“About Miroku Huh?”

“Yes” tears were threatening to spill forth once again.

It was surprising how much Shippo had gotten attached to Kagome during the last couple of years, in fact, it was two and three months ago that Shippo had joined the group.

Kagome gathered Shippo in her arms held on to him dearly

“NO Miroku, he was hit with the snakes tail and sent sailing towards the nearest tree. A loud thud was heard.

Slowly, Miroku was able to get up and went head first towards the snake demon. The snake demon was caught of guard and flung to the side. Kagome soon got up and ran away from where Miroku started fighting the demon. But something compelled her to look back.

What she saw will haunt her memory forever. Miroku was lying in a pool of his own blood and looking almost lifeless.

She saw him and screamed. But as she was running towards him, she realized that Miroku had killed the snake demon. She collapsed in front of him and held him in her arms. She sobbed all over him and begged him not to die.

“It’s ok Kagome, Don’t cry, please. Everything will be fine, I’m glad I am going to die like this, I would have hated to be sucked into my wind tunnel.”

“No Miroku, you won’t die, I can’t, I won’t allow it.”

“Take care of yourself and Sango, please.” And with that, Miroku inhaled his last breath.

“No, on no, please no.” Kagome sobbed.

Not paying attention to what was behind her; she was knocked unconscious by another snake demon.

Kagome sighed an audible sigh.

“Thinking about Miroku again?” Inuyasha, who had appeared out of nowhere since he was not present at Miroku’s funeral, asked.

“Yes” was all Kagome said.

“Feh, I don’t see why you are still mopping about it,” he said harshly, but seeing the tear that threatened to spill forth, he added in a much nicer tone, “I may not have known the lecher the best out of all of us, but I can tell you this, he wouldn’t have wanted you to waste your life away mourning his death, he would have wanted you to appreciate the gift that life is.”

Kagome couldn’t believe what Inu-Yasha said, but understood the hidden meaning behind his words, he too would miss Miroku greatly.

Forgetting about everything, she threw herself at Inu-Yasha and cried her heart out.

Well I’m done with the first chapter, please review I would like to hear of your opinions concerning my grammar usage and vocabulary.

Hope you liked it, and I am sorry to all the Miroku fans, but I just couldn’t figure out a way to start my story otherwise.
