Tutorial Three
Brighten, enhance and color a dark image or screencap.
Do not follow my tutorials exactly. Every image and screencap is different and you should experiment to get different results. Remember, this is only a guide.
Here, I show you my way of brightening and coloring dark screencaps. This tutorial is made for Photoshop only, since it involves selective coloring. Sorry PSP users.
Open your desired base.
01. Duplicate the base and set it to
Screen; Opacity 40%
02. Make a curves layer. Apply these settings.
RGB - Input: 52 Output: 185
03. Make a Selective Color layer.
Layer - New Adjust. Layer - Selective Color
Reds: Cyan: -100 Yellow: +100
04. Make another Selective Color layer.
Reds: Cyan: -100 Yellow: +100
Yellows: Cyan: -50 Yellow: +30
Whites: Cyan: +100 Yellow: -100
05. Make a new layer, colorfill with
#673000. Set to
Overlay; Opacity: 70 Fill: 20%
06. Duplicate your base, drag it to the top, set to
Softlight; Opacity:40% Fill: 30%
And there you go. Remember that not all screencaps are the same, so do try to experiment with different settings, blend modes, etc. Once you do, you'll start finding new techniques! Below is another
example using the tutorial.
