There are more jobs than ever because we have the internet. Unfortunately, this job growth is causing a shortage of qualified applicants who are prepared to fill the gaps for good. But what if you could use all that work to your advantage: If the recession meant there weren’t enough openings, you could take advantage of it and make a name for yourself. This is called the “squishmallows” strategy.
In this blog, I will offer a new way to get ahead in the job search. This type of job search is similar to the one described below by Mark Luschini in his ‘10 Strategies To Get Ahead In The Job Search’ book. But unlike Luschini’s, I am going to use this technique to actually improve my chance of success, and that is where the ‘squishmallows’ technique lies.
For many small businesses, there is no question that job-related credit freezes were the worst thing they could have done. The end result was that many laid off employees had no place to go next week as they spent days searching for a replacement. However, I was able to use this method to make sure that I had enough money and resources available at the time I needed them.
I’ll explain why I decided to do this method, what it has done for me, and what I hope to do in the future. I spent a long time researching jobs as I had a number on my credit report at the time, and I had some of my credit history in an online store. This is how I ended up with the $500 cash, my credit history, and three hundred dollars I could use for the wedding.
