In 1490, Drake was born. He was the 11th son of Queen Elizabeth. He started as a boy and became a man at a young age. At the age of 13, Drake was baptized into the Church of England, and when he turned 16, his parents became godmothers of William Shakespeare. Later, Drake traveled to his father’s court in England and he came back to the United States in 1499 to join the Shakespeare Theater Company.
It was not until 1603 when Drake was sent to France and he met a woman named Anne de Courcy. Over the next eight years, they shared the same destiny. It was while attending court with Queen Elizabeth I that Drake received a letter from the poet, John Donne, in which Drake wrote of his desire to travel back to England. Not long after, Drake went to Paris to meet Donne in what was still called England.
